In its goal to cover all continents and as many countries as possible, Formula E begins to close the venues for Season 10.

The electric single-seater series confirmed that it will race on the streets of Tokyo, Japan, for the first time next March.

The provisional calendar for Season 10 was published this week by Formula E and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) following ratification by the FIA World Motor Sport Council and with the support of the local NSAs (National Sports Authorities) of each host city.

The race, to be held in Tokyo on Saturday, March 30, 2024 will be the first FIA-sanctioned world motorsport championship event to be held in the Japanese capital.

Authorities’ Support

Formula E and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have collaborated to bring the race to the city in support of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) initiative, which is part of the Zero Emission Tokyo strategy. The city has a climate action plan that aims to achieve zero net CO2 emissions by 2050.

In this regard, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike expressed her satisfaction with the official decision for the metropolis to host a Formula E race in March 2024.

“Focusing on spreading the use of zero-emission vehicles, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is accelerating actions in all areas to realize Zero Emission Tokyo, an environmentally advanced city that emits no carbon dioxide,” she said.

Koike highlighted the sustainable value of Formula E by competing in major cities around the world as a road race for electric vehicles that emit no exhaust fumes or engine noise.

“This race will be held around Tokyo Big Sight in the Tokyo Bay area, where projects are underway to make it a next-generation sustainable city. We are all looking forward to seeing firsthand the dynamism of this race to be held for the first time in Japan and cheering on the runners,” she added.

The local authority assured that the event will not only give a new impetus to the spread of zero-emission vehicles, but will also provide a wonderful opportunity to enhance Tokyo’s international presence by showcasing the city’s attractions to the world.
