The repercussions of the interview given by Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds to TNT Sports continue. The executive once again questioned the excitement of Formula 1, and even pointed out that he is willing to put money out of his pocket to reward the driver who is able to prevent Max Verstappen from winning his fourth World Championship.

Dodds will donate $250,000! “At 99%, that trophy belongs to Max. If any of the other 19 drivers win the World Championship this year, I will donate a quarter of a million dollars to the charity of the winning driver’s choice,” he said.

He used the occasion to claim how open Formula E is compared to Formula 1. “As a Formula E and Formula 1 fan myself, I’m traveling to Sao Paulo in a few weeks and none of us have any idea who’s going to win. I’m very excited about it, but as a Formula 1 fan, I’ll watch the season, but I’m absolutely sure who’s going to win.

It’s worth noting that since Spain’s Alejandro Agag launched Formula E in 2015 only one driver, Jean-Eric Vergne, has repeated the title.

In that time, in Formula 1, Nico Rosberg won one World Championship, Lewis Hamilton five and Max Verstappen has three in a row.

Formula E is in its tenth Season and on the weekend of March 16 will be in Brazil for the Sao Paulo E-Prix.
