eSkootr Championship will have a Formula 1 footprint in its inaugural season, as Nico Hülkenberg has confirmed his participation on the 100% electric scooter championship, which is about to debut on May 13 and 14 in London, where preparations are underway for a big party to mark the beginning of a new era in sustainable sports.

The German’s team will be called 27X by Nico Hülkenberg and will be part of the category’s message to promote and educate society about micro-mobility and all the positive aspects that electrified scooters offer and the importance they play in building a greener future.

“I’m excited to take on a completely new role as owner of the 27X team and be part of this micromobility adventure. It will definitely be more than a typical racing series and I’m sure we have a very entertaining sport in development, with motorsport experts behind it. Racing in urban cities is unique and will be a great stage for developing sustainable and safe mobility,” said Hülkenberg.

Thirteen seasons as a Formula 1 driver endorse Nico’s passion for motorsport, and now he is ready to make an important contribution in terms of environmental conservation. Three drivers will be under his command during the championship, which will start in May and culminate in the United States in October.

“Nico is a passionate believer that everyone should enjoy motorsport and has been following eSC closely as we develop the series. He understands what we are trying to achieve on and off the track, creating a sport that is not only accessible but also creates change and inspires a new generation,” said Khalil Beschir, Co-Founder and COO of eSkootr Championship.

About eSkootr Championship

eSkootr Championship was founded by Hrag Sarkissian and Khalil Beschir in 2019. Faced with the challenge of developing a new form of motorsport, without an existing framework, they quickly brought in a team of like-minded individuals to develop the initial eSC specification. Central to the birth of the concept were former F1 and Le Mans driver Alex Wurz, who was appointed the championship’s Safety Ambassador, and Formula E champion Lucas Di Grassi, who became the series’ Sustainability Ambassador.
