Six-time E-Prix winner Edoardo Mortara had spent the last six seasons racing for the Maserati MSG Racing team, but switched to Indian manufacturer Mahindra alongside Nyck de Vries.

With preseason testing over, Mortara shares how he is finding his new home for season 10 and his new relationship with De Vries.

“It’s always very interesting to change teams,” Mortara explained to the official Formula E website. “There are different approaches and I’ve been in Formula E with the same team for the last six years.”

“You get used to the working methodology and how to run the cars, even driving them. When you change racing teams, obviously these things change. It’s kind of a revelation to say that.

Hopefully, if we work together well enough with good motivation and determination, I think we can do well,” he added.

Mortara will line up with Nyck de Vries, who rejoins Formula E after a stint in F1. The Season 7 Champion knows this championship well and, with their combined experience, hopes to propel Mahindra forward in the standings.

“We had a good time together. We had already met during the presentation and also during testing, and we are trying to help each other and move everything forward,” Mortara said.

“We can go out and talk about all different things, not just racing, and this is really great, especially when you travel the world,” he added.

Mahindra will be a big change for the Swiss driver, who until season 10 had spent his entire Formula E career inside the Maserati MSG Racing-Venturi bubble.

The squad underwent team principal changes, becoming the iconic Maserati brand prior to GEN3 last year. Mortara, who finished in the top three in the driver standings during seasons 7 and 8, only managed 14th in the standings last season, so he will be hoping for better results with Mahindra.

“It’s never easy to change teams because you have to get used to a new way of working and new people. To be competitive, you need to feel at home and these things take a bit of time,” he said.

Mortara noted that this is not the first time in his career that he has changed teams, so he is able to bring some positivity to the payrolls he has joined. “This is really what I’m looking for, to have a positive impact at Mahindra Racing and hopefully we can achieve better results.”
