Edoardo Mortara surprises locals and strangers during the exciting season seven of Formula E. The ROKiT Ventura Racing driver has crept into the favorites and is at the top of the leaderboard so far.

He was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1987 and began his career as a Formula Renault racer in 2006, before participating in the renowned F3 Euroseries. He has on his record the famous Macau Grand Prix twice in a row, 2009 and 2010.

In 2011, Mortara jumped into the German DTM Championship, where he raced until he made his Formula E debut with Venturi during the 2017-2018 campaign. There, he got off to a spectacular start, but couldn’t keep up and finished thirteenth overall.

His second year on the electric series was no different. Despite his team partnering with seasoned Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa, the squad finished in eighth place, while individually they closed at 14.

After the discreet results, Mortara continued in Venturi in a duo with Massa, with the difference that the team adopted the technology and the power train of Mercedes-Benz. That earned him to always be in the top 10 and scored points in seven of the 11 games played.

In 2021, Venturi gives a new opportunity to the Swiss pilot after the advances shown in the previous harvest. Now, as Norman Nato’s partner, Mortara has vowed to do battle.

The glory in Puebla

Mortara had a brilliant weekend in Puebla, Mexico, which saw him walk away with first place in the Formula E championship. RoKiT driver Venturi Racing finished third on Saturday and won on Sunday, scoring a good number of points.

“What a weekend. On Saturday we finished third on the podium and on Sunday we took two more steps to win.

“Scoring 40 points in a single race weekend is incredible and after winning, I am honestly speechless. This has been the best weekend of my entire career,” said the runner after the appointment in Mexican territory,” said.

Mortara praised the work done by his team throughout the event at the Miguel Abed racetrack.

The team delivered an excellent strategy, but that did not make it an easy path. In the last 10 laps, Pascal (Wehrlein) kept me under immense pressure, especially since he had more usable energy.

“This meant that we had to find a way to save more energy without sacrificing speed. It was hard to resist but we didn’t make any mistakes and we were able to maximize our potential to reach the top.

“This is a moment of incredible pride for both me and the team to be on the highest echelon. I can’t quite believe it,” he concluded.
