Overtaking, speed, great fans and a brutal accident marked the double day of racing in Rome, penultimate stop of Formula E Season 9.

Jake Dennis regained the lead on Sunday to regain the first place in the drivers’ standings, in a close battle that will surely be defined at the last stop in London.

The Briton won the battle against Cassidy, while Evans also fought until the end trying to sneak in, but Nato was able to keep his position.

Another of the great entertainers of Sunday’s race was Porsche, which despite its attempts to win the competition, was not able to overcome Dennis’ audacity.

An Eventful Weekend

In another risky move, together with the terrible accident on Saturday, Evans’ Jaguar was damaged and had to return to the box to change part of the car. Cassidy, for his part, had to avoid the crash while the accordion effect was generated to provoke collisions between other racers.

The Safety Car left on lap 4, when Dennis led the group ahead of Nato. The Frenchman had an endplate ripped off his front wing, something that Sam Bird took advantage of to overtake him.

Saturday’s postcard was a shocking accident involving several cars in which, despite the violence of some impacts, no driver was seriously injured.

The chain collision occurred on the ninth lap of the Cittadino dell’EUR Circuit, when the single-seaters were involved in the accident in the fastest part of the track.

From Start to Finish

Dennis’ triumph was the first win from light to flag of the GEN3 era, and the first Grand Slam of Julius Baer Pole Position, TAG Heuer Fastest Lap and race win, in addition to every lap led.

The Briton is one of only three drivers to have sealed a Grand Slam and is the first to have achieved the feat twice in Formula E history.

More importantly, that result means Dennis has a 24-point lead over Cassidy for the season-ending double title in London, his homeland and a circuit where he is strong as a two-time winner.

Evans is third at 44 points, while TAG Heuer Porsche’s Pascal Wehrlein retains a slim mathematical hope, 49 points off the top spot with 58 points available.
