Cassidy, ready to take on the challenge in his debut

New Zealander Nick Cassidy is one of three rookies to have Formula E in his ‘Season Seven’. At 26 years old and with successes such as the titles of Japanese Formula 3, Super GT or Super Formula under his belt, he faces his first campaign in the electric series with the Virgin Racing team.

Although he will have an Audi e-tron FE07 that has proven to be very fast, Cassidy knows how important is to acclimatizing to a competition in which the management of the energy of the batteries or the tires themselves is very important.

“I haven’t been thinking about the results too much,” Cassidy said. “The series has a huge set of new challenges for me, so I’m going through the processes of taking as much information as I can”.

“I’m certainly not expecting it to be easy going. And in that case, it would be foolish to expect a certain result because anything is possible if we get the processes right. For sure, in my first year [there will be] that little bit of extra learning aspect.”

The Envision Virgin has occasionally proven to be title contenders but they have fall short because of ill-fortune and poor reliability. The team is encouraged by Cassidy’s versatility.

“I wanted to join Virgin for a reason,” he said. “They are a tightly-knit group of people who are very intelligent, very efficient and for the number of days we do get, certainly from what I’ve seen so far, they have been used very wisely”.
