With the Jakarta E-Prix just days away, changes are beginning to emerge in the driver lineup that will look to shine at the next Formula E stop, slated for June 3.

Avalanche Andretti reserve driver David Beckmann will replace Lotterer, who will spend the weekend with Porsche’s LMDh team preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to replace André and represent the Avalanche Andretti Formula E team in Jakarta,” said the 23-year-old.

“Formula E is an incredibly competitive championship and I am excited to showcase my capabilities in this unique race series. I would like to thank Michael Andretti and the team for entrusting me with this responsibility. I will give my best to achieve a successful outcome for everyone involved,” Beckmann added.

For his part, Avalanche Andretti Director Roger Griffiths pointed out that Beckmann has proven to be a very talented driver, which is why the team is very happy to have his services.

“He was part of the team in season 8 as an official reserve driver and has not only demonstrated his abilities during the Berlin Rookie Test, but also throughout Porsche Motorsport’s development activities and will be an excellent replacement for the two-headed weekend.

Background

With the replacement position for seasons 8 and 9, Beckmann got his first taste of motorsport in karting, winning the DMV Kart Championship (KF3 class) and the Bridgestone European Cup in 2012.

In 2013, he was crowned overall winner of the German Junior Kart Championship, beating Mick Schumacher.

With this success under his belt, he advanced to Formula 4 in 2015, contesting championships in Germany, where he won the rookie classification, and also in Italy.

After two years in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, he switched to the GP3 series, where he finished fifth overall in 2018 with three race wins.

Returning to the FIA Formula 3 European Championship, he achieved sixth place overall with a series of good performances. From 2021 he competed in FIA Formula 2.
