The great spectacle provided by the Portland E-Prix puts pressure on the Formula E directors to define the Official 2024 Calendar for the electric single-seater series.

Several places are already defined, but others are still under debate, such as, for example, the inclusion of Malaga or the participation of Los Angeles.

What is certain is that after what happened in Portland, Michael Andretti, Director of Avalanche Andretti, considers that an expansion in the United States is essential for Formula E.

The North American team’s boss said that having more races in the United States will help the category a lot and will also help it to have a greater broadcasting on television. “Now it’s not easy to find the channel, but with more races it would be easier,” he said.

Full Expansion

Andretti is one of the main promoters for a race to be held in Los Angeles, around Dodger Stadium, and is also working on the return of New York.

The executive points out that it is a question of profitability, since the United States is one of the largest markets in the world and its population is almost half of Europe.

The weekend that Formula E raced in Portland there was a meeting between promoters and teams to talk about the future projects of the category and the subject of the new calendar was discussed.

There is a lot of interest in this race in Portland, not so much because it is in the United States, but because for the first time the series is facing a fast track, the opposite of the urban labyrinths that have been common to date.

It will be in October when it will be certain how it will be run in 2024, when Formula E meets at the World Council of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to decide the final planning for Season 10.

Formula E is preparing its future in advance. The definition of the GEN-4 car is already underway, which will be launched from 2026, and which, thanks to improved battery technologies, will be able to compete on more ambitious tracks.
