Important movements continue around the 2022 Formula E campaign. After the announcement of the new format and official calendar approved by FIA, the teams participating on the exciting electric series are starting to make moves to compete at their best.

One of those teams is Andretti, which reached an agreement with Avalanche, a leader in blockchain, Bitcoin’s block exploration service, as an official sponsor.

The deal marks the first time a Formula E team will have a company linked to the world of cryptocurrencies as a primary sponsor. The partnership is funded through a combination of U.S. dollars and access to Avalanche’s native AVAX token.

Novel Partnership

From Andretti, they see the partnership with Avalanche as a turning point in terms of relationships with digital businesses. “As a founding Formula E team, we believe in the mission and future of the series, and we are excited to bring an innovative partner like Avalanche on board,” said Team Principal, Michael Andretti.

“We not only share the goal of winning on the track, but also the belief that blockchain technology can have a positive impact on the world of motorsport,” he added.

Michael Andretti sees the partnership as opening up opportunities for new ways to interact with fans and introduce cutting-edge technology into various areas. “We are excited to see where this partnership will go,” he stressed.

Sustainable Goal

John Wu, president of Ava Labs, parent company of Avalanche, assured that this union aims to support green initiatives in the framework of sports arenas.

“Andretti and Avalanche are demonstrating that it is not necessary to sacrifice high-powered performance by choosing to go green. We all have a responsibility to combat the climate crisis, and this partnership aligns pioneers leading the charge in their respective industries,” he said.

Roger Griffiths, Andretti CEO, also expressed his satisfaction with the pact with Avalanche. “I am very pleased to welcome them to the Andretti Formula E family as the team’s new title partner.”

“From the beginning, the energy and enthusiasm shown by Ava Labs has matched our own. Their ideas and creativity around the partnership demonstrate the kind of thinking they have put into the development of their blockchain technology that sees them as a leader in the field,” he added.

Andretti spent seven seasons at Formula E and the last four as an official BMW team, racking up seven wins, 17 podiums and eight pole positions. Although BMW withdrew from the tournament, the team will still run the BMW Racing eDrive03 powertrain next year as an independent entrant, with Jake Dennis as its star driver.
