With a capacity of 40,000 spectators, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City will host the 9th Season of Formula E, which will see the inauguration of the Gen3 era.

11 teams and 22 drivers arrive with the hope and motivation to win the championship, which has already been endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile as a World Championship.

The season comes after a very busy preseason, not only with changes in format, vehicles and rules, but also with changes in the grid, where only one team has kept the same line-up as in the previous season.

Line-ups

DS Automobiles teamed up with PENSKE AUTOSPORT, signing two of the most important names. Reigning champion Stoffel Vandoorne and the only two-time Formula E champion, Jean-Éric Vergne, will drive for the team.

Two iconic names in world motorsport, McLaren and Maserati, join the electrified legion for the first time this season. The former is among the biggest names in motorsport, with 20 Formula 1 World Championship titles, 180 Grand Prix victories and three Indianapolis 500 Mile wins, as well as a win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the first attempt.

In alliance with MSG Racing, Maserati marks its return to single-seater competition for the first time in over 60 years and will become the first Italian brand to compete in Formula E.

Jaguar Repeats

For campaign 9, Jaguar TCS Racing is the only one to field an unchanged driver lineup. Mitch Evans was in the hunt for his first title until the final weekend of last season, eventually finishing second..On the other side of the garage, his teammate Sam Bird arrives with great motivation.

For Avalanche Andretti, André Lotterer joins Jake Dennis in the team that will also be powered by Porsche, while season 6 champion António Félix Da Costa will pair up with Pascal Wehrlein in the German marque.

Nick Cassidy stays with Envision Racing, where he will be joined by veteran Nissan driver and season 2 champion Sébastien Buemi.

Nissan, meanwhile, will have a completely revamped lineup with Norman Nato and Sacha Fenestraz, who replaced Antonio Giovinazzi in Seoul in the final race of Season 8.

For his part, Mahindra Racing welcomes Season 3 champion Lucas di Grassi to partner Oliver Rowland.

This Saturday, Formula E makes its seventh visit to a Mexican circuit that has been part of the calendar since Season 2, except for a trip to Puebla in Season 7 due to the COVID-19 crisis.
