The Pure ETCR began its journey in the automotive world of competition in style, because this Friday, June 18, the first and second free practice sessions were held, as well as the new draw that will determine the course of Saturday’s races . In the first round Mattias Ekström was the fastest driver in the group.

Let us remember that the first appointment of the year takes place at the Vallelunga Piero Taruffi Autodrome, inaugurated in 1951 but being in perfect condition to receive the first category of 100% electric touring cars in the world, marking a milestone in the history of sport to engine in conjunction with sustainability and environmental protection.

Now, one of the factors that makes this category completely unpredictable is the elimination of the classification, leaving the order on the starting grid to chance through a draw carried out that threw Jordi Gené, from Zengo, as the winner of this modality Motorsport X CUPRA e-Racer, who opted to start in lane number 3 for action on Saturday.

Gené will meet M1RA’s Rodrigo Baptista and Hyundai Motorsport N’s Augusto Farfus in a three-car group, while his teammate Mikel Azcona will play against Stefano Coletti (Ferraris – M1RA) and Tom Chilton (Hyundai). Finally, fellow winner Ekström, who has Extreme-E experience behind the wheel of ABT-Cupra, will go head-to-head with Hyundai’s CUPRA teammate Dániel Nagy and John Filippi.

Finally, in addition to dominating the times in training, Cupra Racing also won the “Golden Ticket”, which gave the team leader, Xavi Sierra, the power to change the positions of the grid with any rival, however , decided not to do so given that it has the best positions for its pilots.

In this way, everything is ready so that on Saturday 19 and Sunday of June an authentic battle is lived 100% electric and full of speed on Italian soil.
