Puma’s Sprint Toward Sustainability

The sports industry is under pressure to reduce its climate impact, and Puma has emerged as one of the brands taking concrete steps. With its “Forever Better” strategy, the company has aligned itself with global climate goals and is moving quickly to make change across its operations.

Puma has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, covering both its direct operations and supply chain. Already, 100% of the electricity used at Puma’s owned and operated sites comes from renewable sources. The brand is also investing in energy efficiency programs for suppliers and has joined the Fashion Pact, an industry-wide coalition dedicated to climate, biodiversity, and ocean protection.

Product innovation plays a central role in Puma’s climate strategy. More than half of its collections now feature materials such as recycled polyester, organic cotton, or leather sourced from certified responsible farms. Puma has also introduced biodegradable packaging and experiments with circular economy concepts, such as recycling old garments into new fabrics.

In addition, Puma publishes an annual sustainability scorecard, making its progress and challenges transparent. This includes detailed reporting on emissions, water use, and labor standards in its global supply chain. Few sports brands share this level of accountability.

By linking performance, design, and environmental responsibility, Puma is showing that climate action can be embedded into every aspect of sportswear. As athletes and fans alike push for greener solutions, Puma’s leadership demonstrates that one of the fastest ways to win the race against climate change is to never stop improving.
