While it is true that electric vehicle manufacturing has China, Europe and the United States as its largest markets, a new player has also emerged, offering technological prototypes with high power and very affordable prices, the hook for this innovation.

This is India, which has launched the powerful Ola S1 Electric Scooter, a model that is currently only available in this country, but its features will surely be available in other markets.

The model presents a very European design. It has a powerful 8.5 kW (11.5 hp) engine capable of powering it up to a 90 km/h speed on the access version, and 110 km/h on the Pro version, with an acceleration up to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds.

Regarding the benefits of the battery, a small 2.5 kWh pack is shown, with a range of about 121 kilometers, according to the manufacturer. It will also have an estimated charging time of 4.5 hours with a 750 W portable charger. The Pro version, on the other hand, will need 6 hours to be at full power.

Other Battery Options

Among the many details the Ola S1 offers, it will also have access to fast charging, recovering up to 50% with an optional fast charger in just 18 minutes.

The battery supply will be done through a public network stations being installed by the manufacturers in different locations in India, resulting in the deployment of up to 5,000 stations in 300 cities.

The second option maintains the motor power, but raises battery capacity to 3.9 kWh, a number that will enable it to travel up to 181 kilometers, a mind-blowing number for this type of vehicle.

Interesting Features

Among the equipment included on the Ola S1, there is an information screen with a GPS navigator to guide riders through city streets, something that may open up services, such as motorcycle sharing systems.

As for pricing, low-cost version will start at 1,100 euros at the exchange rate, while Pro version will be at 1,480 euros. These are the established prices, which can go down up to 250 euros by region, through public aid available to those who want to purchase the scooter.

The production of this scooter has a wider vision beyond Indian market, and promises to be one of the competitive models in big cities around the world during the next few years.
