MotoE: Intac GP Director warns Supersport that will not cede Aegerter due to Calendar Clash

Dominique Aegerter is experiencing an awkward moment at a crucial stage of the seasons at different categories of world motorcycling. As reported by Green Racing News a few days ago, the Swiss rider found himself with a calendar clash between the two events he races at the same time: MotoE and the Supersport World Championship.

Given this situation, Jurgen Lingg, Intact GP Team Director, for whom Aegerter races for in MotoE, has flatly denied the Swiss driver the possibility of attending the other series, as according to previous agreements, they have priority.

Lingg said he will not accept criticism if Aegerter loses the Supersport title, which he leads. Six wins in ten races under his belt puts him on track for glory with Ten Kate Yamaha. But in MotoE, although he is fourth in the table, he still has good chances to finish at the top.

The discord weekend is September 18-19, when the Swiss will have to sacrifice points at one of the two competitions he decided to take part.

Closed Road

“Back in spring, I allowed Domi to ride for Ten Kate Yamaha in the Supersport World Championship with the sole condition that MotoE would have priority in the event of a date clash. That’s why we can’t really be accused of anything,” Lingg maintained.

Although the schedule clash comes at a crucial time for Aegerter as he hopes to win the Supersport crown, focusing on MotoE could be beneficial for the Swiss rider.

A double win at Misano, Italy, on the final day of the electric series, would give Aegerter serious possibilities for the title race. He is currently 11 points behind leader, Alessandro Zaccone.

In Supersport, he is more comfortable at the top of the standings. He has a 37-point lead over Steven Odendaal.

Aegerter has proven to be a revelation during his debut Supersport racing season and, if he goes on and wins the title, he will put the Ten Kate Racing team back on top of the podium, for the first time since 2014.
